Individual restaurants at street level (upper and below ground restaurants may be considered) can self-certify to use the sidewalk and curb lane outside of their business to expand outdoor seating. Customers must be seated six feet apart. If employees must come within six feet of others then they are required to wear face coverings. Information regarding free face coverings for small businesses is available here.

Additional information from the NYC Department of Health regarding reopening your restaurant is available here. Outdoor seating must be spaced out in accordance with city guidelines. Applicants can self-certify for Open Restaurants with the Department of Transportation here.
